Palo Santo is also known as holy wood. The Palo Santo tree (Bursera Graveolens) is found in central South America, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Palo Santo has been used for centuries. Both during rituals of, for example, Shamans, the Mayans and the Incas, but also in daily life, Palo Santo has been used for a long time. This is partly due to the unique scent that Palo Santo gives off, but also due to the energetic and spiritual effect that is attributed to this type of wood. Palo Santo is usually burned (smudging), whereby the scent and energetic effect, just like incense, fills the room. Palo Santo is also used to cleanse rooms, people, gemstones and objects. Before Palo Santo obtains its powerful energetic effect and typical scent, the wood must first mature, as it were. The harvesting of the wood is done under strict supervision so that sustainability is guaranteed.
